A pear cut – or teardrop cut diamond – is perfect for those who are looking for unique engagement rings. This diamond cut has been around since the 15th century, and has become popular in recent years, as it’s a versatile cut that can be made into a traditional or contemporary ring. Due to their teardrop-shape, pear engagement rings are said to represent tears of joy, so if you are looking for a ring to celebrate your engagement, browse our collection of pear-cut jewellery.

Pear engagement rings handcrafted by Diamonds Factory

Diamonds Factory are specialists in all things diamond, so if you’re looking for pear engagement rings, we can handcraft one just for you.

When you’re shopping for engagement rings, one of the key things to focus on is the centre stone, and at Diamonds Factory we let you choose from a number of options to get the pear cut diamond of your dreams. This includes:

Carat – one advantage of pear cut diamonds is that their elongated shape means they look bigger than a round cut of the same carat weight. You can customise our engagement rings with a smaller carat for an understated look, or a large carat weight for lots of sparkle

Clarity – diamond clarity refers to the presence of imperfections on the stone, with an IF (internally flawless) being the most desirable. However, pear cuts are good at hiding small imperfections

Colour – a D grade diamond will be 100% colourless, which is what many buyers desire, while G or H diamonds will have a small amount of colour, which is hard to detect. Diamonds Factory also offer yellow diamonds, if you want something different, as well as pear cut sapphires and other coloured stones for a unique style

Simply choose one of our pear engagement rings, and you’ll find lots of options to customise it to suit you. You can then order your ring online and enjoy great prices when compared to boutique jewellers.

Diamonds Factory offers online shopping, and we also have showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne and other cities where you can see our pear engagement rings up close and make your choice. You can get a bespoke engagement ring, without the inflated prices, with quality diamonds and handcrafting.

FAQs

*individually for Engagement Rings

Yes, pear-shaped and teardrop diamonds refer to the same diamond cut. This unique shape combines elements of both round and marquise cuts, resulting in a diamond with one rounded end and a pointed end, resembling a teardrop. A pear-shaped engagement ring is known for its elegant and distinctive appearance, making it a popular choice for those seeking a blend of traditional and unique elements in their jewellery.

The pear shape significantly enhances a diamond's sparkle and brilliance. This cut is designed to maximise light reflection, creating exceptional brilliance (the white light seen in diamonds) and fire (the dispersion of light into the colours of the spectrum). The unique combination of rounded and pointed ends allows for a greater surface area to reflect light, giving the diamond a luminous and vibrant appearance. The precise cutting and polishing of pear-shaped engagement rings are crucial in achieving this captivating sparkle.

Choosing a pear-shaped engagement ring offers a range of benefits:

  • Distinctive Style: Pear diamond engagement rings provide a unique and sophisticated look that stands out from more traditional cuts.
  • Flattering Effect: The elongated shape of the pear diamond can make the wearer’s finger appear longer and slimmer.
  • Versatility: This shape is versatile and suits a wide range of setting styles, from classic to contemporary.
  • Visual Size: Pear-shaped diamonds often appear larger than other shapes of the same carat weight due to their elongated form.
  • Brilliance and Fire: The cut of pear-shaped diamonds results in high levels of brilliance and fire, making them exceptionally sparkling.

For pear engagement rings, several setting styles enhance their beauty and uniqueness:

  • Halo Setting: A halo of smaller diamonds encircling the pear-shaped stone can magnify its sparkle and presence.
  • Solitaire Setting: A classic solitaire setting focuses attention on the pear shape’s elegance and simplicity.
  • Three-Stone Setting: Pear-shaped diamonds can be flanked by smaller stones to create a striking and balanced look.
  • Pave Setting: A band with pave-set diamonds adds extra shimmer and complements the pear diamond's brilliance.
  • Bezel Setting: For a modern and secure option, a bezel setting encases the diamond in a metal rim.

The selection process for our pear diamond engagement rings is meticulous and focused on quality. We consider several factors:

  • Cut Quality: The cut is crucial in pear-shaped diamonds to ensure symmetry and maximise sparkle.
  • Clarity and Colour: When crafting our pear engagement rings, we look for diamonds that strike the right balance between clarity, colour and value.
  • Proportions: Ideal proportions are vital for the aesthetic and brilliance of a pear-shaped engagement ring.
  • Certification: We prefer diamonds that are certified by reputable gemological laboratories, ensuring their quality and authenticity.
  • Ethical Sourcing: We commit to ethically sourced diamonds, ensuring that our pear engagement rings are conflict-free and responsibly mined.
